Gifted
and Talented The school works hard at challenging pupils and has robust systems in place to identify pupils who may be either ‘Gifted’, ‘Talented’ or ‘Exceptionally Able’. Pupils identified within these the categories are placed on the Gifted and Talented register, which is maintained and reviewed stringently each half-term (nb. pupils are also placed on the register if the school is in the process of monitoring and assessing their special abilities). Provision for these pupils is carefully organised and catered for within school, with secure differentiation of tasks ensuring that work is appropriately challenging and stimulating. Extra-curricular provisions (both within and out of school) are also identified, where appropriate, so that pupils are directed to additional opportunities. The school is at present being considered for the NACE National Award, recognising outstanding commitment to identification of and provision for Gifted and Talented pupils.
